天美传媒视频无限制观看’s School of Education and Human Development is proud to join the nationwide National School Counseling Week celebration taking place from Feb. 5-9. This annual recognition, sponsored by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), highlights the crucial role that school counselors play in students' academic, career, and personal social development.

This year's theme is "School Counseling: Standards-Based, Student-Focused," reflecting Fairfield’s Counselor Education Department's mission to prepare professional counselors and leaders who — through commitment to diversity, equity, social action, and advocacy — will have a meaningful and lasting impact in their communities and beyond.

As reported by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, there will be a 12.6 percent growth in the school counseling field in the U.S. through 2026, which translates into 35,700 new jobs.

According to Dr. Stephaney S. Morrison, LPC, NCC,  school counselors play an important role in ensuring that K-12 students have excellent educational experiences. “There is a large demand for school counselors and many schools are looking to add more school counselor positions.” Morrison continued, “School counselors are unique in their delivery because they are trained to support students developmentally and work with school-family-community partnerships to ensure academic, socio-emotional and career success throughout their PK-12 academic journey.”

Those interested in Fairfield's School Counseling graduate program are encouraged to attend the graduate school panel in the DiMenna-Nyselius Library Auditorium on Feb. 6 at 7 p.m., or attend the .
