A new home for 天美传媒视频无限制观看 Lacrosse: Rafferty Stadium

It’s official. Thanks to a generous leadership gift from former University Trustee, Lawrence Rafferty ’64, his daughter, Kathleen Rafferty Hay ’03, and his son Michael Rafferty, Alumni Field will soon be renovated into a large-scale stadium where Fairfield’s men’s and women’s lacrosse teams will permanently make their home.

The new stadium will be called Rafferty Stadium.

Few activities bring students and alumni together like competitive sports. The stadium will be a new point of pride for the University, bringing attention to Fairfield beyond athletics and enhancing the overall campus experience for students, faculty, staff, and the greater community.

“Our lacrosse programs have been growing in national stature, as has the sport itself. I have been amazed at the lacrosse facilities built in the last five years. To remain competitive at the level of our peers, the new stadium is significant,” Athletics Director Gene Doris said. “The Walsh Athletic Center is the hub of our activity and having a beautiful new stadium right next door will help our recruiting efforts for all sports.  In addition, Rafferty Stadium will enhance the University’s recognition across the country since we will now be able to host tournaments and competitions for both high school as well as college teams.”

With bleachers spanning both sides, Rafferty Stadium will seat 3,500 fans. The playing surface will be a high quality artificial turf complemented by state of the art lighting and scoreboard. The facility will encompass a permanent press box, VIP suites, concession stand, and visiting team locker rooms.

The estimated cost of the stadium is approximately $9 million. With the Rafferty family gift and other pledges from alumni and parents, over half of that amount has now been committed with fundraising efforts continuing to raise the rest. The University is planning on completion of Rafferty Stadium by the start of the 2015 lacrosse season—in time for Fairfield to host the 2015 Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) men’s lacrosse tournament.
