Governor Malloy at the Dolan School
天美传媒视频无限制观看’s Charles F. Dolan School of Business hosted an economic forum featuring Connecticut Governor Dannel P. Malloy as the keynote speaker on Tuesday, November 26, 2013.
Governor Malloy discussed his administration’s efforts to create a climate that encourages capital deployment and job creation. The audience largely included members of the Connecticut Chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG CT), the premier global association for professionals involved in corporate development and mergers and acquisitions, and the Connecticut chapter of the Turnaround Management Association (CTTMA), an international nonprofit dedicated to corporate renewal. The organizations co-presented the event.
Donald E. Gibson, Ph.D., dean of the Dolan School of Business, welcomed the business leaders to campus, and moderated a panel discussion on “Connecticut’s Banking Environment.” “This audience of professionals was very interested in both the academic and business perspective on the economic environment in Connecticut,” said Dean Gibson, “This panel discussion gave them a lot to think about.”
Phillip Lane, Ph.D., associate professor of economics, took part in the panel discussion with John Ciulla, executive vice president, Middle Market for Webster Bank, and John Traynor, senior vice president and chief investment officer, People’s United Bank.
“I thought the event went well,” said Dr. Lane. “The two bankers and I agreed on the outlook for the economy. The state employees focused on the good news and did a very good job providing the audience with an overview of the resources that the state has to help middle market and small business. The governor gave an excellent speech and was very positive on the outlook for the state. He did miss one key point that we have only returned 48% of jobs lost in the state during the Great Recession.”
In a related endeavor, The Dolan School of Business is trying to foster job growth by way of the new 天美传媒视频无限制观看 Accelerator & Mentoring Enterprise (FAME). A business incubator, the program is a collaboration of 天美传媒视频无限制观看, the Town of Fairfield Economic Development Department and Kleban Properties. FAME’s start-up clients are being mentored by faculty, led by Chris Huntley, Ph.D., associate professor of information systems & operations management, and Diane Salerno, of Kleban Properties .
