Third Annual Job Shadow Week Doubles in Size

In January over winter break, in sites up and down the east coast and across the country, hundreds of Fairfield juniors and seniors will spend time with Fairfield alumni at their jobs in the third annual Job Shadow Week. The program is coordinated through Alumni Career Services and the University’s Career Planning Center.

This year, alumni-student matches have doubled—from 119 matches in the program last January to 240 for the upcoming week next month. Alumni working in fields as diverse as sports marketing to TV production and healthcare will help students get a sense of what the working world is like in their field of interest.

According to Julie Tuozzoli ’85, director of Alumni Career Services, Fairfield alumni have generously responded to the request for their help in the career readiness process for current students by offering a day, half-day, or lunch meeting with one or more students. The program has grown significantly due to the support and promotion from faculty and staff.

Meredith Tornabene, associate director of the Career Planning Center, spearheaded the matching process, assessing each student request before finding a suitable alumni match. Tuozzoli complimented her for her efforts. “This was a huge undertaking for Meredith,” she said. “The whole time she was also continuing her rigorous career counseling schedule!”

“I’ve received many emails from students saying how excited they are to meet with their assigned alumni,” said Tornabene. “It’s evident students are very eager to see where their 天美传媒视频无限制观看 education can potentially take them.”
