Two Stags in Pro Draft

For those that believe in omens, the 2013 Major League Lacrosse Collegiate Draft should serve as a positive one for fans of 天美传媒视频无限制观看 men's lacrosse. For the second time in as many seasons, and in program history, two Stag seniors were selected by MLL teams on Jan 11, and both by organizations with prior ties for Fairfield players.

Sam Snow was selected in the seventh round, 55th overall, by Denver. It marks the second MLL Collegiate Draft in a row that Denver has chosen a Stag, with 2012 All-America Honorable Mention and ECAC Goalkeeper of the Year Charlie Cipriano going in that slot in the 2012 draft. Marshall Johnson was picked 64th, in the eighth round, by Rochester. Drew Palmer, a 2012 Fairfield graduate, was claimed on waivers by Rochester on June 6, 2012.

Snow enters his final season with the Stags on the cusp of 100 career points, with 98 in 44 career games. The attackman has scored 69 goals during that time, including a team-best 35 goals in 2012, as he earned All-ECAC and All-NEILA First Team accolades. Snow was tabbed as an InsideLacrosse Face-Off Yearbook Preseason All-America entering the 2013 campaign and will serve as a team captain for the Stags.

Johnson, also selected a team captain this season, has appeared in 44 games as a midfielder and member of the Stags face-off unit. He has 100 career ground balls, with 52 coming in 20012, and has won 124 career face-offs. Johnson has also contributed offensively, scoring 14 goals and handing out 12 assists.

The Stags begin practice on Friday, January 18, and will have four days of two-a-days prior to the start of the spring semester on Tuesday, January 22. Fairfield opens the 2013 season on February 9, travelling to Stony Brook.
