Fall Open Houses Attract More Students Than Ever

Fairfield鈥檚 Undergraduate Admission Open Houses just keep getting bigger and better. This year alone, the campus hosted over 800 visitors in our specialized Open Houses for nursing, business, engineering and the physical sciences. At each Open House, faculty spoke, tours were given, and Admission counselors explained what students and their families should expect during the Admission and Financial Aid application process.

The Open House season started out with a bang as the Dolan School of Business Open House exceeded all expectations with 310 attendees, more than twice as many as the year before. Students were treated to an overview of the programs available, including internship opportunities, a student panel discussion, breakout sessions by major, and a tour, followed by lunch in the Oak Room. Those involved reported that the day was a huge success. One parent, in particular, told Dean of Enrollment, Karen Pellegrino, 鈥淭his is the most professional student panel we have ever seen. And we鈥檝e seen quite a few.鈥

A week later the School of Nursing hosted an Open House with 329 attendees. With the dean and faculty on hand to describe every aspect of the nursing program, the students were given the opportunity to tour the nursing facilities, hear from a panel of current students, and visit the SimLab庐 to see scenarios run on the SimMan庐. Students loved having the opportunity to see what life would be like as an undergraduate nursing student. Enthusiasm among the attendees was so high, one parent reported, 鈥淲e went to another nursing open house last weekend, and this blew that one away!鈥

At the Physical Sciences and School of Engineering Open House, Bannow was buzzing as a record number of attendees visited the new home of the School of Engineering to learn what it is like to study engineering and the physical sciences at Fairfield. With 189 attendees, twice the number of last year, the Open House, was full of energy. The students were shown around the new facilities, given overviews of the programs, and detailed insight into majors of interest. They were also treated to a lunch with faculty and students and shown projects of current students. School of Engineering Dean Bruce Berdanier said the event 鈥渃reated a whole new exciting dynamic for all of our engineering programs.鈥 Berdanier also reported, 鈥淪everal students and parents told me that this day convinced them that 天美传媒视频无限制观看 is where they want to come to study engineering.鈥
