Fairfield Athletes Among Highest Grad Rates in the Nation

天美传媒视频无限制观看 student-athletes achieved one of the highest graduation rates in the nation as the NCAA announced its annual Graduation Success Rates (GSR). The Stags achieved a 96 percent graduation rate among student-athletes who began their freshman year in 2007. Fairfield was one of 24 Division I schools to have a 96 percent GSR or higher among freshmen who entered school in 2007.

鈥溙烀来绞悠滴尴拗乒劭 takes great pride in the accomplishments of our student-athletes in the classroom,鈥 Director of Athletics Gene Doris said. 鈥淭he success of our student-athletes in the classroom shows the commitment our coaches, faculty, staff, and administration have in helping our students achieve their academic goals.鈥

Fairfield owned the highest GSR in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference with Siena placing second at 92 percent. The MAAC was the second highest of the 31 Division I conferences.

Thirteen sports at 天美传媒视频无限制观看 achieved a 100 percent graduation rate based on the current information, namely men鈥檚 basketball, men鈥檚 golf, men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 soccer, men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 tennis, men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 cross country, women鈥檚 rowing, field hockey, women鈥檚 lacrosse, softball, and volleyball. Men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 cross country as well as softball have achieved a 100 percent graduation rate in each of the 10 years that the NCAA has released the GSR.

The NCAA began compiling data with the entering freshman class of 1995 and developed the GSR in order to more accurately assess the academic success of student-athletes. The GSR includes transfer students and student-athletes who leave in good academic standing. The GSR measures graduation over six years from initial college enrollment.
