Grit N' Wit and Spring Fest, April 23

Spring is finally here and to celebrate, 天美传媒视频无限制观看 will host two events for Stags to enjoy this weekend: Spring Fest and Grit N’ Wit. On Saturday, April 23 at 11:30 a.m., the first ever Grit N’ Wit will be hosted at the University. The event is sponsored by the Wounded Warrior Project, FUSA, IRHA and Fairfield @ Night. Participants will be tested both mentally and physically throughout an obstacle course that will start at the Stag Statue and extend to other locations throughout the campus. According to Stephen Dierks ’18, founder and president of the Fairfield chapter of the Wounded Warriors Project, “participants can expect a 1.5 mile course with 10 mental and 10 physical obstacles. The course is for all ages and abilities.”

Participants are expected to arrive by 11:30 a.m. for registration, the event’s opening speech and the singing of the National Anthem. At the event, heats will go off every 10 minutes during four time slots, with five teams per slot at 12:00, 12:30, 1:00 and 1:30. The price for students is $10 and $15 for non-students. “Overall, I believe that this a new and exciting event,” said Dierks, “It will be an exciting day which will benefit a great cause.” Additionally, the first 100 to register for the event will receive a free t-shirt and water bottle. The top three teams will receive prizes including apparel and gift cards. All of the proceeds for this event will go to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Following the Grit N' Wit competition, Fairfield's IRHA will host their annual Spring Fest from 1:00-4:00 p.m. in the Quad. Activities include free giveaways, live music, inflatables, dunk tanks and food trucks. Alec Chambers, an acoustic artist, will be performing, and music will also be provided by a DJ. The rain location for Spring Fest will be in the Lower Level Barone Campus Center.
