Six Fairfield Teams Earn NCAA Public Recognition Awards

Six 天美传媒视频无限制观看 athletic programs were recognized by the NCAA as the organization announced its annual Public Recognition Awards. The men鈥檚 soccer, the women鈥檚 cross country, the men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 golf and men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 tennis teams received the honor for their performance in the classroom.

The Public Recognition Awards are based on the teams' most recent multiyear Academic Progress Rate, an annual scorecard of academic achievement calculated for all Division I sports teams nationally. These six Fairfield teams posted scores in the top 10 percent of their sport. Fairfield tied with Iona College for the most teams recognized among the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) member institutions.

鈥淚 am proud of our student-athletes' performance in the classroom,鈥 Director of Athletics Gene Doris said. 鈥淭his recognition is a tribute to the dedication that our student-athletes show in the classroom, and the efforts of our faculty who provide the inspiration to all students. This award also reflects the value that our coaches place on the academic careers of our student-athletes.鈥

A total of 290 schools placed at least one team on the top APR list. The most recent APRs are multiyear rates based on scores from the 2011-12, 2012-13, 2013-14, and 2014-15 academic years. The APR measures eligibility, graduation and retention each term and provides a clear picture of the academic performance of each team in every sport.
