Professional Development Series at The Dolan School
As part of the Dolan School鈥檚 professional development series students have the opportunity to prepare for their career after Fairfield with events like the Marketing MIXer and Mock Interview Day. This month both events are offered:
Marketing MIXer: Create Your Future in Marketing
This last Wednesday, students gathered at The Dolan School to attend the Marketing MIXer, an opportunity for students to hear from marketing professionals who have achieved success in their career. The event was structured in the form of speed learning.
What is speed learning? Speed learning is a fast-paced format that helps students interact with professionals in a more casual manner. During the evening the marketing professionals met with small groups of students to give them a 鈥渟neak peak鈥 about their career, and then rotated to the next group of students.
The format gives students an opportunity to hone their networking skills and learn how to prepare for a career in marketing and what qualifications are needed to excel.
鈥淭he Marketing MIXer professionals provided an engaging and personalized approach to career exploration that is crucial to students鈥 professional development,鈥 said Sarah Bollinger, director of Internships and Professional Development. 鈥淭he 67 students that attended the event now have a better idea of what career possibilities and paths are available to them after graduation.鈥
Coming Up: 2 nd Annual Mock Interview Day, February 10
More than twenty local employers will participate in this year鈥檚 Mock Interview Day as students practice their interview skills and gain real time feedback from professionals.
Mock Interview Day is an opportunity for students to sit face-to-face with a professional in their field and conduct an interview as if it were the real thing. Interviews will be timed and at the conclusion, students will receive real time feedback on how they did, and the professionals will offer pointers to develop the students' skills and confidence.
165 students have already applied to participate in Mock Interview Day and will get to sit down with professionals from companies such as AmeriCares , Bank of America, Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Deloitte, Gartner, Octagon and Synchrony Financial.
