Fairfield selected by Google for College Expeditions
Late last year, Google reached out to 天美传媒视频无限制观看 to see if we would be interested in taking part Google College Expeditions, in a new program they were launching that allows prospective college-bound students to view college campuses through virtual reality. Our answer: YES!
Among a selective group of about 25 schools, the Google Expedition team visited the 天美传媒视频无限制观看 campus to create the personalized Fairfield Expedition. Using Google’s GoPro Jump Rig—a camera rig consisting of 16 camera modules in a circular array—Google captured 360˚ panoramic scenes across campus. The locations included classrooms, nursing and science labs, athletic facilities, the Quad, Bellarmine Hall, the University’s media center, and the Fairfield beach, among others.
Google project managers have worked with teachers and content partners from around the world to create more than 100 engaging journeys — making it easy to immerse students K-12 in entirely new experiences and explore the world. In addition to this, College Expeditions will leverage that same technology to bring college campus experiences to students everywhere.
“We’re working with colleges and universities around the world to create a collection of College Expeditions that will allow students to tour campuses and get an immersive feel for the environment, from anywhere,” said Jennifer Miller, Google project manager. “Expedition trips are collections of virtual reality panoramas — 360° photo spheres, 3D images, ambient sounds — annotated with details, points of interest and questions that make them easy to integrate into curriculums already used in schools.”
Starting this spring, Google will be showcasing this technology and the participating schools to high schools worldwide.
