Many will agree there is nothing better than a good meatball. Whether a family recipe or restaurant favorite, over a bed of pasta or on a sandwich, there are many ways to enjoy the classic Italian cuisine. And to share the secret to the perfect meatball it’s always best to consult the experts…

ýƵƹۿ is pleased to welcome Iron Chef, Donatella Arpaia ’93 to campus on Friday, February 26 to host the Open VISIONS Forum at 8 p.m. at the Quick Center. Donatella is best known for her role as head judge on Food Network’s Iron Chef America and The Next Iron Chef , as well as her Mama’s Meatballs and Ragu recipe. During the Open VISIONS Forum Donatella will share her insights into making her dream a reality and how she transformed her career as an attorney to become a hotshot TV Foodie and culinary mogul.

Earlier in the day Donatella will host a student meatball competition at 3:30 p.m. in the lower level of the BCC with five student club teams who will compete for best meatball. Students will have 30 minutes to make their own meatball recipes in front of a panel of judges and student audience. While the meatballs cook, student chefs and the audience will get to sample Donatella’s meatballs and other appetizers, and hear from Donatella about her culinary career.

"After speaking to different clubs and organizations, students are very excited about this meatball competition," said Anif McDonald, FUSA president. "I'm thrilled to see that students are happy to participate in the event, and what makes it even better, is they are happy to hear that they can do it all in front of a Food Network Star and also a Fairfield alumna. I'm sure it will be a competitive day and I am looking forward to seeing the different club members put forth their best efforts to impress Iron Chef Donatella Arpaia."

The student team with the best meatball will win gift certificates to the bookstore for books the following semester and campus meal swipes. There will also be a raffle for the audience for a chance to win gift certificates to local restaurants. This event is free and open to the student body. Don’t miss out on this exciting opportunity to cheer on student chefs and get cooking tips from “The Hostess with the Mostest” and alumna, Donatella Arpaia.
