Stags Set to Host 2016 MAAC Championship This Weekend
The 2016 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Volleyball Championship will be decided on George Bisacca Court from November 18-20 as the top six teams in the MAAC come to ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ÊÓƵÎÞÏÞÖƹۿ´â€™s Alumni Hall. The Stags are the top seed in the tournament as the MAAC Regular Season Champion.
After earning a First Round bye, Fairfield (26-5, 18-0 MAAC) first takes the court on Saturday, November 19 at 2:00 p.m. in the MAAC Semifinals. The Stags will play the winner of the Friday evening matchup between fourth-seeded Rider and fifth-seeded Siena. In other First Round action, third-seeded Quinnipiac challenges sixth-seeded Niagara on Friday for the chance to meet second-seeded Marist on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. The 2016 MAAC Championship Match is slated for Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
All five matches of the MAAC Championship will be broadcast live on ESPN3, produced by the award-winning ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ÊÓƵÎÞÏÞÖƹۿ´ Media Center. Links to tune in live as well as ticket information and updates throughout the weekend are available on MAAC Championship Central at .
All Fairfield students in attendance will receive FREE admission to all Fairfield matches throughout the weekend courtesy of Stags in the Stands. All Fairfield students at Saturday's 2:00 p.m. semifinal will be entered into a raffle to win $500 toward textbooks for the spring semester.
ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ÊÓƵÎÞÏÞÖƹۿ´ is led on the court by Skyler Day ’18, who was announced on Thursday evening as the 2016 MAAC Player of the Year, and fellow First Team All-MAAC honorees Megan O’Sullivan ’17 and Megan Theiller ’18. Head Coach Todd Kress also garnered MAAC Coach of the Year laurels for the second consecutive season and a conference-record fifth time in seven campaigns on the Stags’ sidelines.
