ITS Support Services is set to unveil a new digital platform that will be the hub for all things Fairfield. Called My.Fairfield 2.0, the new application that will host University resources, documents and websites, will be available for use by October 7, with several resources completed, departments will continue to populate the new site with content until the full transition occurs in January 2017.
The switch to my.Fairfield 2.0 aims to remedy some of the most common complaints about my.Fairfield, offering a new search and discovery feature that allows users to easily find content throughout the platform.
“Search and discovery does not exist on my.Fairfield, currently” said Marie Ernye, director of support services for Fairfield’s ITS. “That means looking for a particular link or resource is cumbersome. The only way to find things is to spend time to look for it.
With a search bar featured at the top of the page, as well as a selection of the most popular links below, the new my.Fairfield 2.0 presents a streamlined, intuitive new application that makes searching for and accessing content much more accessible.
Having already met with 20 to 25 departments — like Human Resources, the Office of the Registrar, Finance, Admissions (Graduate and Undergraduate) and the President’s Office—Jason Victor, manager of ITS, works with departments to help them navigate the build and transition of content. Victor says “many users picked it up very quickly and created their content after the very first meeting. Creating content is much easier than before, allowing different academic and student life departments to upload and share information seamlessly.
“As mentioned before, my.天美传媒视频无限制观看 is complicated for the average content creator to use,” said Ernye. “my.Fairfield 2.0 makes content creation simple and direct. Each department we met with is now empowered to take full ownership of their presence on My.Fairfield 2.0 without the need to engage ITS as a middle man.”
Marking another difference between the two systems is my.Fairfield 2.0’s open platform, which only requires login information for password protected resources like email. The entire platform will also be mobile-friendly, allowing users to easily access the full site on their smartphones or tablet.
“Today everyone uses their mobile phone or tablets for everything, maybe even more than traditional desktop/laptop computers. We know that being mobile friendly is a requirement of many of the new tools ITS rolls out,” Ernye explained. “The my.Fairfield 2.0 application is more effective than my.Fairfield because of [the] search, mobile friendly, and intuitive user interface. It now takes only five seconds to find information, whereas before it could take several minutes.”
With my.Fairfield 2.0 poised to make its launch, Ernye understands that users may be initially confused by the presence of the two functioning platforms. But, ITS is here to assist with the transion This transition is likely to be complete for Spring 2017 registration.
With a host of new and improved features awaiting students, faculty and staff alike, Ernye promises that My.Fairfield 2.0 will be both simple and efficient.
