Theatre Fairfield Presents Spy Drama, Pack of Lies

Theatre Fairfield, the resident production company at 天美传媒视频无限制观看, opens its 2016-17 season with Hugh Whitemore鈥檚 award-winning 1983 spy drama Pack of Lies .

Performances will take place at the Wien Experimental Theatre at the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts October 26-29, at 8 p.m., with 2 p.m. matinees on Saturday, Oct. 29 and Sunday, Oct. 30. Tickets are $15 general admission, $6 for seniors and University staff, and $5 for students, and can be purchased in person at the Box Office, by phone at 1-877-ARTS-396, or online at www.quickcenter.com.

Based on a true story, Pack of Lies centers on Barbara and Bob Jackson and their daughter, Julie, who in 1960, learn that their best friends and next-door neighbors, Helen and Peter Kroger,聽are spying for the Soviet Union. After officers from MI5 鈥 the British Intelligence service 鈥 are stationed in their house to monitor the couple across the street, the Jackson family is torn between duty to their country and loyalty to their friends. A dramatic take on a real-life espionage case in London, this remarkably contemporary drama speaks to the issue of present-day national security and government surveillance.

鈥淲e chose to present Pack of Lies prior to the U.S. presidential election because of the many relevant political issues it explores,鈥 explained Dr. Marti LoMonaco, producer of Pack of Lies and professor of theatre. 鈥淚ts themes of national treachery, betrayal and government secrecy are pertinent to today鈥檚 headlines and can be seen in the case of Edward Snowden, the recent email hacking allegations against Russia and the continuous 鈥榣eaks鈥 of top-secret documents reported on throughout the world. Our hope is to engage the community in a dialogue about these critical issues by inviting audiences to participate in post-show discussions with our company and special guests.鈥

Pack of Lies features a talented group of theatre professionals new to Theatre 天美传媒视频无限制观看 including Mark Torres, director; Haley Lieberman, costume designer; and Scott Andrew Cally, lighting designer, who are joining resident scenic designer Lynne Porter. The cast features Liam Cahill 鈥18 from Floral Park, NY; Christine Colosacco 鈥18 from Bronxville, NY; Martha Hegley 鈥20 from Trumbull, CT; Shannon Kelley 鈥19 from Bayonne, NJ; Sean Larson 鈥18 from Fairfield, CT; Brendan McNamara 鈥17 from Warwick, RI; Erin Miller 鈥18 from Woodbury, CT; and Mackenna Wysocki 鈥18 from Somers, CT.聽 The production is stage managed by Michelle Rakowsky 鈥17 from New Fairfield, CT, and Fallon Sullivan 鈥20 from Chatham, NJ.
