Move-in 2016: Watch the Video

The rain and the wind held out for what ended up being a sunny and beautiful Move-In Day for the Class of 2020 on Sunday, September 4, as more than 1,000 first-year students moved in on campus.

First year students and their families were assisted by staff from multiple departments, as well as student volunteers, including student-athletes, New Student Leaders, Resident Advisors and student government leaders. This year, student athletes from various varsity teams greeted the new students at their residence halls. The Cheer and Dance Team and the Stag Street Team welcomed students and their families as they drove onto campus while The Bensonians gave impromptu performances throughout the quad.

"We couldn’t have asked for a better move in experience for our new students and families," noted Karen Donoghue, associate vice president of Student Affairs and dean of students. "Over 300 student leaders and 75 administrators successfully moved in 1004 students in less than four hours!"

The first two weeks at Fairfield are all part of Fall Welcome, full of activities to help new students get acclimated. From varsity games, a dodgeball tournament, and bowling to a BANDALOOP aerial dance performance, movie night, bingo, and late night at Southside Café — there are entertaining activities for just about every student. Community meetings in the residence halls also bring students together.
