"Christmas Eve with ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ÊÓƵÎÞÏÞÖƹۿ´," A CBS Special Airs Nationally

The CBS network will broadcast a dedicated ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ÊÓƵÎÞÏÞÖƹۿ´ special during this year’s Christmas lineup, offering a window into the Holiday Season at New England’s modern, Jesuit Catholic University. Be part of show at the Christmas Tree lighting on Thursday, Dec. 7 at 6 p.m.

Our hope with this broadcast is that Fairfield will illuminate this holiday season for viewers all over the nation.

A one-hour holiday program produced exclusively at ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ÊÓƵÎÞÏÞÖƹۿ´ is scheduled to air nationally on CBS on Christmas Eve.

The program produced for CBS by the University and the University’s Media Center will air from an hour at 11:35 pm on Dec. 24 (ET/PT), and will feature musical performances from the University Glee Club, Professor of Music Brian Q. Torff and New Duke , the alumni band The Lionfish, as well as the personal reflections from a variety of ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ÊÓƵÎÞÏÞÖƹۿ´ students, Jesuits, and others, and is meant to be a window into the life and spirit of the University community in the prelude to the holidays.

“Airing on CBS is an incredible opportunity to show how special Fairfield truly is,” said Jennifer Anderson, Vice President of Marketing and Communications. “Our hope with this broadcast is that Fairfield will illuminate this holiday season for viewers all over the nation. From our campus tree lighting and holiday concerts, to our student celebrations and volunteer work, people around the country will see the true spirit of Christmas happening here in Stag country,” she said.

The opportunity to create the program for the national network came after alumnus John P. Blessington ’65, a senior executive producer at the network for over 30 years contacted the University and presented the idea -- citing Fairfield’s commitment to Ignatian values of service to others and faith in the fellowship of the human family.

Since 1948, CBS’s Religion and Culture department has reported on a wide range of faith-based and human-interest stories, such as religious freedom, food and spirituality, mindfulness, and global stewardship.
