Class of 2021 Boasts Largest Application Pool in University History

Big news is coming out of 天美传媒视频无限制观看鈥檚 Office of Undergraduate Admission. At the start of the University鈥檚 spring semester, more than 11,000 applications have already been submitted by the Class of 2021, marking the largest application pool to date in Fairfield鈥檚 75-year history.

鈥淲e are pleased that we continue to see the first-year applicant pool grow in size and diversity,鈥 said Vice President for Enrollment Management Karen Pellegrino. 鈥 We are confident that the Class of 2021 will be as interesting and talented as those which have preceded it.鈥

Interim-President Lynn Babington, PhD, credits the historic increase in applications to a series of effective and creative recruitment efforts administered by the Office of Undergraduate and their partners in the University鈥檚 Department of Marketing and Communications.

鈥淲e have put a lot of energy and creativity into our recruitment efforts this year鈥 and anticipate that we will succeed in meeting our goal of welcoming more than 1,000 first-year students [in September],鈥 Dr. Babington said in a recent University communication. 鈥淐ongratulations to those working in the Office of Undergraduate Admission and their partners in Marketing and Communications for their excellent work.鈥

One of the University鈥檚 more creative recruitment efforts this year involved the implementation of a digital marketing campaign centered on the construction of a large, Instagram-generated community mosaic. Developed in partnership with the social media company Luster, the unique piece of art features thousands of individual Fairfield photos submitted and assembled by students, faculty and staff to create a singular mosaic image of one of the University鈥檚 most iconic landmarks.聽 The collaborative project serves as an artistic representation of the diverse individuals that make-up Fairfield鈥檚 campus community, and on April 2 and April 9 during the Office of Undergraduate Admission鈥檚 Accepted Student Open Houses, the Class of 2021 will be invited to 鈥渂e a part of the art鈥 by adding their photos to the mosaic as a symbol of joining the University鈥檚 community.

Before the open houses are held in April, members of the Class of 2021 will also be invited to visit campus for a class-specific tour that will be held Mondays and Fridays at 11:45 a.m. and will run from Tuesday, Feb. 14 through 聽Friday, Apr. 28. 聽They will also have the opportunity to participate in the University鈥檚 鈥淪hadow a Stag鈥 program, during which they will be paired with a current student who will take them to class, introduce them to faculty and answer their questions over lunch. "Shadow a Stag" begins Thursday, Feb. 23 and runs through Friday, Apr. 28.
