Men’s Lacrosse, Baseball Earn National Preseason Recognition

Entering its ninth year led by Head Coach Andy Copelan, Fairfield men’s lacrosse is coming off of a 9-8 season – its fifth straight winning campaign – that culminated with the team’s first-ever trip to the CAA Championship Game. The Stags, who return 30 student-athletes from last spring’s club, are one of five teams in the nation to have won three consecutive conference regular season titles.
Individually, Fairfield also had three student-athletes . Colin Burke '19 was tabbed as Third Team All-America, while Tyler Behring '17 Andrew Eidenshink '17 both collected All-America Honorable Mention distinctions.
The Stags’ 2017 campaign – their 25th varsity season – is set to begin on Saturday, Feb. 11 at Richmond with the home opener on Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium slated for Saturday, Feb. 25 against visiting Rutgers. Season and single-game ticket packages, VIP suite rentals and game-day experiences are now available for the 2017 season. .
Fairfield baseball received votes on the national ledger after winning the 2016 MAAC Championship and making the program’s first-ever appearance in the NCAA postseason. Head Coach Bill Currier’s Stags tied a program record with 32 victories en route to the MAAC crown last spring.
Fairfield begins its 2017 season in Beaumont, Texas for a four-game series at Lamar on Feb. 24-26. The Stags’ first game on the new Alumni Diamond will be a Tuesday, March 21 visit from St. John’s. Both the Cardinals and Red Storm joined the Stags as programs receiving votes in the national preseason poll.
