SOE Alumni Panel Makes Career Connections

Earlier this month, 11 alumni from the School of Engineering (SOE) returned to campus to participate in a career panel for current undergraduate and graduate students. Participants included
Chris Babcock '16, design engineer, Sikorsky; Katherine Pitz '15, mechanical engineer, Kohler Ronan; Mitchell Bell '14, manufacturing engineer, Okay Industries, Inc.; Michael LoTurco '16, mechanical engineer, RBC Bearings; Kim Sasso, '11, MS '15, programs engineer, UTC Aerospace Systems; Matthew Lazicky '16, mechanical engineering, PEP Lacey; John Babu '07, engineer, Eversource Energy; Eric Iannaccone '15, quality assurance associate, Priceline; Austin Hliboki ’16 of Kohler Ronan; Sharoz Seyal ‘14, design engineer, Ampheno lRF; and David Jose ‘16 of Bausch Advanced Technology Group.

More than 30 undergraduate and graduate students attended the fourth-annual career panel event that is a collaboration between the SOE and the Academic and Career Development Center. The panelist alumni shared their experiences with job hunting, networking, as well as their transitions from academia to industry.

"It helps to show current students that the opportunities to succeed are out there," said panel participant John Babu '07, now a lead engineer for the company Eversource Energy.  "With some hard work and dedication they can find themselves starting their career off right.  As an alumnus myself, I think it's great to see the progress Fairfield has made and the new initiatives they've been focusing on since my graduation."

Another panel participant, Sharoz Seyal ‘14 said he found the current Fairfield students at the event nothing short of the type of students 天美传媒视频无限制观看 is known to have.

"They were attentive, listened closely and had great questions for the panelists," said Seyal, who is now a design engineer with Amphenol RF, the world's largest manufacturer of coaxial connectors for use in radio frequency, microwave and data transmission system applications.

"Many of them stayed after the panelist speaking portion of the event," Seyal continued. "And talked to us about our work experience so far and even gave us their resumes and requested business cards for potential internship/full-time positions. Great networking skills!"
