Be a Residential College Mentor! Info Session May 22

On Monday, May 22, ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ÊÓƵÎÞÏÞÖƹۿ´ will host an information session about the Residential College Mentoring Program at 7 p.m. in Alumni House.

The Residential Colleges at ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ÊÓƵÎÞÏÞÖƹۿ´Â are a signature program integrating living and learning in the context of a Jesuit education. This established, award-winning program encourages sophomore students to esplore intellectually, socially and spiritualy through specifically tailored courses and community. During their time in the program, students have the opportunity to explore fundamental questions of identity, community and purpose through Fairfield’s Sophomore Residential Colleges — Ignatian, Creative Life or Service For Justice. Each College examines three questions: W ho am I? Whose am I? Who am I called to become?

Mentors serve as companions to students by facilitating monthly discussions grounded in the Ignatian model of reflection and discernment, and are trained and supported by University staff.

“Students find the mentor sessions to be a haven in a busy world that seems to be constantly evaluating them," said Dr. Nancy Dallavalle, Vice President for Mission & Identity. "Fairfield's Jesuit mission, that calls us to meet our students as whole persons — not just future resumes — is lived most clearly in the mentor program, as interested adults from the University faculty and staff and members of the surrounding community engage with the hopes, dreams and stresses of being a college sophomore today."

For additional questions and/or would like to participate, contact Marianne O’Connell Neville, mentor coordinator of the Residential Colleges, at 203-254-2404 or mneville@fairfield.edu. Register for the reception.
