Stags Earn Six NCAA Public Recognition Awards

Six 天美传媒视频无限制观看 athletic teams were recognized by the NCAA as the organization announced its annual Public Recognition Awards. The men's soccer team, the women's basketball team, the men's and women's golf teams, as well as the men's and women's tennis teams received the honor for their performance in the classroom.

NCAA Public Recognition Awards are based on the team's most recent multiyear Academic Progress Rate (APR), an annual scorecard of academic achievement calculated for all Division I sports teams nationally. These six Fairfield teams posted scores in the top 10 percent of their sport.

鈥淚 am pleased with the announcement of six teams being honored by the NCAA,鈥 Director of Athletics, Gene Doris, said. 鈥淭his award shows the effort put forth by our student-athletes in the classroom as well as the emphasis that our coaches place on academics. I am especially grateful to our faculty who continue to challenge and inspire our student-athletes.鈥

Nearly 300 schools placed at least one team on the top APR list. The most recent APRs are multiyear rates based on scores from the 2012-13, 2013-14, 2014-15 and 2015-16 academic years. The APR measures eligibility, graduation, and retention each term and provides a clear picture of the academic performance of each team in every sport.
