Herd for a Cure Kicks Off This Saturday Oct. 14 as Fairfield Hosts Manhattan at Lessing

Fairfield Athletics continues community partnership with Norma Pfriem Breast Center.

天美传媒视频无限制观看 Athletics will continue its community partnership with the Norma Pfriem Breast Center through the “Herd for a Cure” initiative during the 2017-18 academic year. The inaugural Herd for a Cure campaign generated a donation of more than $2,000 to the organization.

Home contests throughout the school year the will be designated Herd for a Cure games, beginning this Saturday, Oct. 14, as Fairfield Women’s Soccer hosts Manhattan on Lessing Field at 7 p.m. Fans are encouraged to wear pink to support breast cancer awareness. In addition, donations will be collected and special edition Herd for a Cure t-shirts will be sold with all proceeds benefiting the Center.

“We are honored and excited to relaunch the Herd for a Cure initiative,” said Zach Dayton, Senior Associate Athletics Director for Marketing and Communications. “We were thrilled to see our student-athletes across all of our varsity sports united with Norma Pfriem Breast Center last year, and we look forward to supporting this incredible organization once again throughout 2017-18.”

Also this Saturday, FUSA and Fairfield @ Night are hosting “Bingo for Breast Cancer” at 9 p.m. on the lower level of the Barone Campus Center. Proceeds for this event will also benefit the Norma Pfriem Breast Center.

Following this weekend’s kickoff event, Fairfield Volleyball will hold its Herd for a Cure game on Sunday, Oct. 22, and Fairfield Men’s Soccer hosts its event on Wednesday, Oct. 25. Additional events will be announced throughout the year as winter and spring athletics' schedules are finalized.

The Norma Pfriem Breast Center's mission is “to achieve excellence in breast care through education, screening, diagnosis and expert medical treatment of diseases of the breast.” Excellent care and comprehensive services are provided through a multidisciplinary team including oncologists, health and wellness providers, naturopathic physician, professional nursing staff, surgeons, social workers and counselors. The Breast Center also offers a comprehensive program of wellness services at its expanded facility in Fairfield. Symptom management and services to help alleviate both physical and emotional side effects of treatment are also offered.
