President Mark R. Nemec, PhD, joined Lucas and ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ÊÓƵÎÞÏÞÖƹۿ´ Student Association (FUSA) President Cara Gibbons ’18 and Vice President Molly Strang ’18, as they made their way around the Tully Dining Commons on Wednesday evening to meet and speak with students.

In her opening remarks, Gibbons discussed her experience working with President Nemec since the start of the academic year. “Over the past few months, I have had the opportunity to work with Dr. Nemec and have seen firsthand the enthusiasm and motivation he has to lift ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ÊÓƵÎÞÏÞÖƹۿ´ in higher education. Dr. Nemec’s vision of a Modern Jesuit Campus will enable Fairfield to grow and diversify, embodying a society that constantly cultivates itself,” she stated.

As President Nemec took the stage, he spoke about the future of the University. “It is really exciting to kick off Inauguration Week here in the Tully because the Tully, in many ways, represents so much of Fairfield's future. If you look at this building, its core is the same it's ever been, but around it is the modernization that makes it something exceptional. Another thing this place represents is community and family. Having joined this community with my family, all I can say is how grateful we are for everything everyone has done to welcome us."

Gibbons concluded the reception with, “ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ÊÓƵÎÞÏÞÖƹۿ´ will always be a place we call home. We look forward to the coming changes, as well as the enhancement of traditions we hold close to our hearts.”

After a top-notch Tully meal, the students departed feeling great about the future of the University and their new President.
