Fairfield’s contribution to the public good and service to the community were cited as strong considerations as to why Fairfield was named among the top 20 master’s degree-granting institutions in the country by Washington Monthly , a publication focused on education and politics supported in part by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The University was named among the “Best Bang for Your Buck in the Northeast,” and second in “Earning’s Performance,” second only to Harvard University. These rankings consider schools that help non-wealthy students “attain marketable degrees at affordable prices.”
