Led by second-year director of Fairfield Golf, Doug Holub, the Stags began practicing at Brooklawn upon returning to campus earlier this month. The women’s program hit the links in competition for the first time this season at the Dartmouth Invitational this past weekend.
“I have spent more than 20 years on golf courses in Connecticut and throughout the region, and Brooklawn Country Club measures up as one of the best in the Northeast,” Holub said. “Having a course to call home right here in the Town of Fairfield will be a tremendous benefit to our current and future student-athletes.”
Founded in 1895, and one of the very first clubs to be recognized by the United States Golf Association, Brooklawn is the only club in Connecticut to have hosted four USGA national championships, including the 1974 Junior Amateur, 1979 U.S. Women's Open, 1987 U.S. Senior Open, and 2003 Girls' Junior Championship.
