天美传媒视频无限制观看’s Marion Peckham Egan School of Nursing and Health Studies will host The Impact of Trans-Generational Trauma Workshop on Sunday, February 11, 2018 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Egan School . The workshop is open to all mental health professionals.

This workshop focuses on the identification and treatment of trans-generational trauma. This type of trauma manifests across successive generations beyond the person’s own life history .

“This is an extremely important workshop for all therapists in order to find the appropriate resources to mitigate the cultural trauma experienced by the patient,” stated Kathleen Wheeler, PhD, APRN-BC, FAAN, professor at the Egan School.

Case presentations are included in the workshop to illustrate the ways mental health professionals can explore trans-generational themes within the patients’ own family. While case presentations are EMDR focused, the concepts throughout the workshop are applicable to all forms of psychotherapeutic models and interventions.

Ruth Heber, PhD, is a psychologist in New York City and is an EMDR Institute Facilitator. Her specialties include integration of EMDR and psychoanalytic modalities, and the treatment of secondary, vicarious and cross-generational traumatization. Dr. Heber, a survivor of the Shoah, has worked extensively with direct and generational trauma both in her practice, and at the Holocaust Survivors’ Specialized Treatment Program at Mount Sinai Medical Center.

Karen Alter-Reid, PhD, is a clinical psychologist and EMDR Institute Regional Trainer and Specialty Presenter. She is faculty, EMDR senior consultant, and trainer at the National Institute for the Psychotherapies Integrative Trauma Program. Dr. Alter-Reid specializes in working with first responders, including therapists, firefighters and law enforcement.

Dr. Alter-Reid and Dr. Heber both worked with therapists treating World Trade Center, Gulf Coast Hurricanes, and Sandy Hook survivors. The presenters co-authored “The Trans-generational Impact of Anti-Semitism” featured in Mark Nickerson’s edited book, Cultural Competence and Healing Culturally Based Trauma with EMDR Therapy .

The workshop’s registration fee is $185 and $100 for Veterans Affairs staff and students . 5.5 EMDRIA and professional CEU credits are currently pending.
