Fairfield to Host Ethics Certificate Course for Healthcare Professionals: June 5 - July 17, 2018

天美传媒视频无限制观看鈥檚 Marion Peckham Egan School of Nursing & Health Studies will host a six-week certificate course entitled Ethics for Healthcare Professionals: Theory, Techniques, and Tools for Practice.

Co-sponsored by the Egan School of Nursing and Health Studies and the Kanarek Center for Palliative Care Nursing Education, the course will take place on Tuesdays from 6-8 p.m., June 5 until July 17, 2018, at the Egan School of Nursing and Health Studies .

This workshop focuses on the development of working knowledge of the ethical principles of healthcare. Aimed at the working practitioner—nurse, social worker, therapist, physician, and administrator—participants will gain a better understanding of the principles of bioethics and how they should be applied in patient care. The course will be taught by attorney Richard L. Newman, JD, and will cover the history and development of the three central principles of medical ethics, and the practical application of these principles to patient and family care.

Newman, an attorney and professor of healthcare ethics at 天美传媒视频无限制观看, serves on the Ethics Committee of the Bridgeport Hospital. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin School of Law and a member of Phi Beta Kappa, he has written and published extensively about medical ethics.

The workshop’s registration fee is $325.

This activity has been submitted to the Connecticut Nurses’ Association for approval to award nursing contact hours. The Connecticut Nurses’ Association is an accredited approver of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
