Evelyn Bilias Lolis, PhD, associate professor of psychology and special education and certification officer, conducted a professional development workshop entitled, "Creating Climates of Compassion & Connectedness" for the faculty of Rippowam Middle School in Stamford, Conn.  

Stephanie Burrell Storms, EdD, associate dean and associate professor, presented “Collaborating Across Disciplines to Promote Multicultural Education Through Technology” at the National Association for Multicultural Education annual conference.

Ryan Colwell, PhD, assistant professor and director of childhood education, had the following journal article published in Reading Horizons: A Journal of Literacy and Language Arts: “Teaching Writing from the Inside Out: Teachers Share their Own Children’s Books as Models in Elementary School Classrooms.” Dr. Colwell also presented “Nothing to Fear: Teaching to Transcend Transphobia in Catholic Contexts” at the National Council of Teachers of English.

Paula Gill Lopez, PhD, associate professor and chair of the department of psychological and educational consultation, presented a self-care workshop at Black Rock School in Bridgeport. The project will provide the opportunity to collect data with a control group for Dr. Gill Lopez’s ongoing research surrounding self-care.

Diana Hulse, EdD, professor and chair of counselor education, co-authored “An Everyday Guide to Unlocking Relationship Competencies” with Peter McDermott.

Paul Maloney, EdD, professor of the practice of applied psychology, conducted three team building workshops for Fairfield Fire Department assistant chiefs, shift commanders, and lieutenants, and will be conducting another workshop this month.

Co-directors of the  Alyson Martin, EdD, assistant professor and Emily Shamash, EdD, assistant professor, presented on teaching preservice teachers to collaborate with families of young children with autism at the National CEC – Division of Early Childhood Conference. Dr. Martin also received the St. Augustine Medal of Service Award from Bishop Caggiano of the Diocese of Bridgeport.

Jule McCombes-Tolis, PhD, director of Reading and Language Development and chief academic officer for the International Dyslexia Association (IDA), has launched an international educator preparation program accreditation model designed to accredit educator preparation programs based upon their ability to prepare candidates to meet IDA's Knowledge and Practice Standards for teachers of reading. Dr. McCombes-Tolis co-presented this model at the IDA 2018 annual meeting. She is also presently serving on a working group convened by the National Center for Learning Disabilities (NCLD) that is tasked with helping to frame federal language associated with the identification of students with specific learning disabilities. 

Stephaney Morrison, PhD, assistant professor of counselor education, co-authored an article published in Urban Review titled “School Bonding and Family Support as Predictors of Academic Achievement Among African American and Caribbean Black Adolescents.”

Ten educators, in addition to Bryan Ripley Crandall, PhD, director of CWP-Fairfield and assistant professor, presented their research at the National Council of Teachers of English. Dr. Ripley Crandall also received $10,000 for CWP-天美传媒视频无限制观看 in support of Ubuntu Academy and the Invitational Leadership Institutes for Teachers from the Rosivach Estate.

Tracey Robert, PhD, professor of counselor education, presented “Using the Corrective Feedback Instrument – Revised to Enhance Pedagogy and Supervision in Counselor Education” at the North Atlantic Region Association for Counselor Education and Supervision Conference.
