Argentinean Director Lola Arias Brings Performance of Campo Minado/MINEFIELD to the Quick on January 26

In this powerful theatre work, Argentinian and British veterans of the Falklands War travel decades back in time to reconstruct memories and reflect on their conflict.

Six actual Falklands/Malvinas War veterans who once faced each other on the battlefield now face each other on stage in Lola Arias’ theatre production, Campo Minado/MINEFIELD. Together, the veterans share memories, films, songs, and photos as they recall their collective war and the political figures who led them into it.

As described in the British newspaper, The Guardian, “It’s memory as a minefield that has fascinated Arias in so much of her work and which takes centre stage in this piece, which takes the men back in time and makes them consider recollections which have either become burnished through frequent retelling or have remained buried and unacknowledged.”

Rich with live-action projections, and told in both Spanish and English, the piece is staged on a film-set-turned-time-machine, where those who fought are teleported into the past to reconstruct their memories of the war and its aftermath. Soldier, veteran, human – these men have stories to share as they take us from the horrors of a past war to today’s uncertainties, with brutal honesty and startling humor.

Lola Arias is a writer, director, actress, songwriter, and a leading voice in Argentinian theatre. Her productions play with the overlap between reality and fiction. The Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts at 天美传媒视频无限制观看 will present Campo Minado/MINEFIELD on January 26, 2019 at 8:00 p.m.

In order to give more context to Arias’ work, The Quick will be collaborating with on- and off-campus partners to present two additional events in the week leading up to the Jan. 26 theatre production:
