N.Y. Philharmonic String Quartet Brings Chamber Music Favorites to the Quick, April 7

N.Y. Philharmonic String Quartet Brings Chamber Music Favorites to the Quick, April 7

The quartet of multiple prize-winning virtuosi musicians from the esteemed New York Philharmonic Orchestra will perform works by Haydn, Shostakovich, and Brahms.

The New York Philharmonic String Quartet will take to the stage of the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts for an afternoon of classical chamber music on Sunday, April 7 at 3 p.m.

The acclaimed quartet features four multiple prize-winning principal musicians from the New York Philharmonic Orchestra: Concertmaster Frank Huang (The Charles E. Culpeper Chair); Principal Associate Concertmaster Sheryl Staples (The Elizabeth G. Beinecke Chair); Principal Viola Cynthia Phelps (The Mr. and Mrs. Frederick P. Rose Chair); and Carter Brey (The Fan Fox and Leslie R. Samuels Chair).

With a classical repertoire that brings to life the compositions of Haydn, Shostakovich, Brahms, and more, the New York Philharmonic String Quartet made its debut in March 2017, and since then has dazzled classical music lovers as the solo ensemble in John Adams's Absolute Jest, in a reprised performance on the Orchestra's EUROPE/SPRING 2017 tour, and during the Philharmonic's annual Bravo! Vail summer residency.

This concert is dedicated in memory of Howard J. Aibel, a good friend and supporter of the Quick Center for the Arts. Howard was a lawyer, conservationist, philanthropist, and passionate arts advocate, who loved live theatre and music of all genres.

The New York Philharmonic String Quartet is sponsored by Abbey Tent & Party Rentals, WSHU, and Hansen’s Flower Shop. Tickets are $45 and $40, and $30 for Quick Members. For more information or to reserve your seat, visit or call the box office at 203-254-4010 or toll free at 1-877-ARTS-396.
