Fairfield Earns Top Marks in 2020 U.S. News and World Report Best Regional Universities Rankings

The University rose to No. 1 for Best Undergrad Teaching – Regional Universities, jumped three spots to No. 2 Most Innovative School, and placed No. 9 on the national list for Student Success-Service Learning. Fairfield was also recognized nationally for its business and engineering programs.

ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ÊÓƵÎÞÏÞÖƹۿ´ has once again been recognized in the annual U.S. News and World Report Best Colleges 2020 rankings, placing high up for Best Regional Universities in the North at No. 3. Other regional distinctions for ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ÊÓƵÎÞÏÞÖƹۿ´ include a jump to the No. 1 spot at the top of U.S. News and World Report’s Best Undergraduate Teaching list, and No. 2 Most Innovative School. Fairfield’s high placement on the regional lists follows an upward trend in its retention rate (90%) and graduation rate performance, and a rise in SAT scores for incoming students.

Schools included in the Regional Universities ranking offer a full range of undergraduate programs, provide graduate education at the master’s level, and are placed in four geographical groups: North, South, Midwest and West.

Among notable national distinctions, Fairfield ranked No. 9 for Student Success-Service Learning, on U.S. News and World Report’s list of 2020 Academic Programs to Look For, tying with the University of Notre Dame.

Fairfield jumped seven spots to No. 75 out of 210 on the list of Best Engineering Programs. Fairfield was also ranked No. 167 out of 504 on U.S. News & World Report’s Best Undergraduate Business Programs. The University improved its year-over-year placement by five spots in the 2020 ranking and joined 28 schools nationwide in a tie for the distinction. U.S. News & World Report additionally ranked specific business programs within the Best Undergraduate Business Programs rankings. ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ÊÓƵÎÞÏÞÖƹۿ´ landed among the top 30 schools nationally for its Accounting, Finance, Marketing, and Information Systems programs, jumping six spots to No. 27 for Best Undergraduate Business Programs-Accounting, and four spots to No. 23 for Best Undergraduate Business Programs-Finance.

In other national rankings, ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ÊÓƵÎÞÏÞÖƹۿ´ was also recently ranked in the top 100 for all private institutions and top 150 overall on the Forbes list of America’s Top Colleges. The Princeton Review named Fairfield among the Best 385 Colleges in its annual 2020 college rankings, where Fairfield placed No. 14 for Best Alumni Network, No. 14 for Best Schools for internships, No. 16 for its location in the town of Fairfield, and No. 19 for Happiest Students.

On Niche’s overall 2020 Best Value Colleges in America list, Fairfield placed in the top 75, and in their 2020 Best Colleges statewide rankings, Fairfield landed at No. 2 Best Value College in Connecticut, coming in just behind Yale. Niche's statewide rankings also placed Fairfield at No. 1 Best College for Nursing, No. 2 Best College for Business, No. 2 Best College for Accounting and Finance, No. 3 Best College Location and No. 3 Best College Campus.
