Library Research Prizewinners

Marissa Bartone ’20 and Mohammed Thajudeen Syed Mustafa MSME’20 were recognized for their scholarship and use of library resources; honorable mention was given to Teresa Sauer ’20.

Earlier this week, the winners of the 11th annual Library Research Prize were recognized for their scholarly work and use of library resources. This year, the event was conducted through Zoom with more than 50 University community members joining online. Marissa Bartone ’20 won the undergraduate student research prize and Mohammed Thajudeen Syed Mustafa MSME’20 won the graduate student research prize, each receiving $1,000. Honorable mention and $500 was awarded to Teresa Sauer ’20.

Bartone was recognized for her paper entitled “The Impact of Post-9/11 Conditions on the Evolution of the 9/11 Truth Movement." Her paper was the result of research conducted during a history seminar taught by Giovanni Ruffini, PhD.

Syed Mustafa is completing his graduate degree in mechanical engineering and has conducted extensive research for his thesis with Sriharsha Sundarram, PhD. His work is entitled “Open-Pore Network Polymer Foams for Biomedical and Structural Applications Via Combined Solid State Foaming and Additive Manufacturing.”

Sauer received honorable mention for her research paper “River Inflow Events of Varying Magnitudes Affect Indicators of Water Quality: Assessing Hydrological Responses to River Inflow Events and Their Drivers in a Temperate Reservoir.”
