Join the Celebration at Mrs. Krishnan’s Party, Feb. 20–22 at the Quick Center

Dance, laugh, and feast on the fun at one of four performances of Mrs. Krishnan’s Party, an immersive play that connects and inspires audiences of all backgrounds.

Gather your friends for an immersive theatre experience at the hit play, Mrs. Krishnan’s Party, where there is music, dancing, and vegetarian dal prepared live at each show. Performances are scheduled at ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ÊÓƵÎÞÏÞÖƹۿ´’s Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts at 7 p.m. on three nights: Thursday, Feb. 20; Friday, Feb. 21; and Saturday, Feb. 22; with an additional 2 p.m. show on Saturday the 22nd.

Mrs. Krishnan’s Party is part of a theatre series that has been running continually for more than 20 years, breaking box offices records in New Zealand, India, Europe, and beyond. The play centers around the lovable character Mrs. Krishnan, created by Jacob Rajan and Justin Lewis, co-founders of the New Zealand-based India Ink Theatre Company.

India Ink blends Western theatrical traditions with Eastern flavors, and is critically acclaimed for its use of live music, humor, pathos, and great storytelling. “Mrs. Krishnan’s Party is, in part, a celebration of the South Indian festival of Onam,” said Lewis. “Onam is a bit like Easter, Christmas, and New Year all rolled into one.”

The festivities take place in the back room of Mrs. Krishnan’s dairy, where garlands decorate the ceiling, food simmers on the stove, and the hostess is throwing a bash like no other. The actors – Kalyani Nagarajan and Justin Rogers – juggle the cooking, the music, and the guests, in an unfolding comedic drama where no two nights are the same.

“A good party brings people together. Strangers become friends. That’s what we aim to do with this show. It’s a very gentle form of interaction … over the evening a community is built,” Lewis said.

See for yourself why Mrs. Krishnan’s Party – where laughter abounds and strangers become friends – has reviewers singing its praises and audiences leaping to their feet in appreciation. Mrs. Krishnan’s Party offers audience members three ticket options, depending on one’s desired level of participation – from seats around the kitchen table, to raised seating around the perimeter of the stage, to standing room in back of the theatre.

Mrs. Krishnan’s Party is generously sponsored by the Silverman Group and The Westport Inn.  Ticket options include:

  • Top Table & Inner Circle (seated at the kitchen table, in the heart of the action): $40 | Quick Member: $35
  • Wallflowers (raised seating on the outskirts of the stage): $30 | Quick Member: $25.
  • Party Animals (standing only): $20 | Quick Member: $15.
