After directing Theatre Fairfield’s successful productions of The Art of Dining and One State, Two State, Red State, Blue State, adjunct theater professor Jan Mason returns to the director’s chair for this virtual production which showcases the work of American playwrights David Ives and Barrie Cole. Deemed the "maestro of the short form" by The New York Times, Ives is known for his comedic, one-act plays like Sure Thing, Time Flies, and Philip Glass Buys a Loaf of Bread and has been delighting audiences with his irreverent wit for more than 30 years. Similarly, Chicago-based playwright and performer, Barrie Cole has been revered by critics across the country for her brilliantly funny and cleverly revealing plays, essays, and performance monologues.

“This evening of theatre is about the chance encounter, the perfect moment, the right words, the time when everything aligns and goes right, or not. It’s about the fleeting chances we have to get it right,” Mason said. “I expect the result will be a joyful evening of love, laughter, and intelligent humor that is really smart and really funny.”

The cast of Theatre Fairfield’s production of Love and Imagination features Kiersten Bjork ’21, Tracy Ferguson ’22, Grace Kavulich ’22, Lillie Kortrey ’23, Abby Ligas ’24, Park Lytle ’21, and Jay Martins ’21.
