Tune in to thequicklive.com at 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 25, to join Gwendolyn D. Pough, PhD for the Magis Core Lecture, "Gender Matters in Black Lives Matter."

Gwendolyn D. Pough is Dean's Professor of the Humanities, William P. Tolley Distinguished Teaching Professor in the Humanities, and Chair of the Department of Women's and Gender Studies at Syracuse University. She is the author of Check It While I Wreck It: Black Womanhood, Hip-Hop Culture and the Public Sphere, and numerous articles on Black feminism, hip-hop culture, and African American rhetoric. 

"Dr. Pough is a lively, engaging speaker who will engage students and the community around the issues of gender in the Black Lives Matter movement," said Elizabeth Petrino, PhD, professor of English and director of the Magis Core Curriculum in the College of Arts and Sciences. "By participating in this lecture, my hope is that students will understand how the [Magis] Core prepares them for a lifelong commitment to learning and how their core courses can play a vital role in their intellectual development."

The Magis Core Curriculum is a discipline-based, tiered learning experience grounded in the humanistic tradition and designed to reflect 天美传媒视频无限制观看’s mission of educating the whole person and offering ongoing opportunities for transformation.The Magis Core Lecture was created to highlight a national recognized scholar whose work emanates from an area of the Core, is transdisciplinary or interdisciplinary in approach, and analyzes contemporary issues of social or political importance.
