Three players collected All-MAAC laurels, and TJ Long ’25 was named Sixth Player of the Year.
Four representatives from the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ÊÓƵÎÞÏÞÖƹۿ´ men’s and women’s basketball teams earned postseason honors from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. TJ Long ’25 headlined the list as the MAAC Sixth Man of the Year.
Long averaged 10.5 points per game primarily in a reserve role for Fairfield Men's Basketball in the 2022-23 season. He was the first option off the bench in 24 appearances in addition to making seven starts. He ranked fourth on the Stags in scoring and second among MAAC players to have made less than 10 starts. Long's team-best 58 made three-pointers slotted sixth among all MAAC players.
Also from Head Coach Jay Young’s squad, Supreme Cook ’24 was selected to the All-MAAC Third Team. Cook was one of just two players in the MAAC to lead their team in both scoring and rebounding, as he averaged 13.1 points and ranked third in the conference with 8.5 rebounds per game. His rebounding rate was the best by a Stag since Amadou Sidibe ’16 collected 9.3 boards per contest in the 2016-17 season.
Fairfield Women’s Basketball and Head Coach Carly Thibault-DuDonis saw two players collect All-MAAC honors. Callie Cavanaugh ’20 capped her standout career with All-MAAC First Team recognition after ranking third in the MAAC with 15.9 points per game to go along with 5.5 rebounds per contest. Cavanaugh was also an All-MAAC Third Team pick in the Stags’ 2021-22 MAAC Championship season.
Rounding out the honorees is Janelle Brown ’24 with an All-MAAC Third Team selection. Brown averaged 11.8 points, and was one of the league’s top perimeter defenders, leading ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ÊÓƵÎÞÏÞÖƹۿ´ in steals and blocks while also placing second on the club in rebounds and assists.
The ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ÊÓƵÎÞÏÞÖƹۿ´ Basketball program recently completed its first season in the new, on-campus Leo D. Mahoney Arena. The men’s and women’s teams both opened and concluded their respective home schedules in victorious fashion in the state-of-the-art venue.
