School of Engineering Dean Dr. Evangelos Hadjimichael announced last week that the State Board of Higher Education has licenced a new master's degree in software engineering (MSSE). Applications are being accepted for the program, which will begin in January 1999.
The MSSE was approved earlier this year by the University's Board of Trustees. At that time, Dr. Hadjimichael said, "The master's in software engineering is designed to educate new professionals and re-educate established professionals in fundamental and applied principles of software development appropriate to current technologies and professional practices. The MSSE graduates will be in a position to serve the needs of corporations, organizations, government and private business in providing software solutions to complex problems."
The minimum requirement for earning the master's degree is 12 courses, or 36 credit hours, including seven required courses and five electives from one or more the program's five tracks.
The curriculum for the MSSE programs includes concentrations in Software Engineering Management, Advanced Implementation Techniques, Application Design, Enterprise Systems and Network Technologies.
