Dr. Mary Daly, an associate professor in the Department of Theology at Boston College, will speak on "Overcoming Silencing: Women in the University," on Thursday, Feb. 17, at 3 p.m. in the 天美传媒视频无限制观看 School of Nursing Auditorium, followed by a reception in the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts from 4:15 to 5:30 p.m. The public is welcome.
Dr. Daly, who teaches Feminist Ethics at BC, has lectured at over 300 colleges and universities in the United States and Canada and at universities and public gatherings around the world, including Australia, England, Ireland, Germany and Switzerland. She is the author of several books, including "Outercourse: The Be-Dazzling Voyage," "Pure Lust: The Elemental Feminist Philosophy," and "The Church and the Second Sex." Her most recent book, "Quintessence ... Realizing the Archaic Future: A Radical Elemental Feminist Manifesto," was published by Beacon Press in 1998 and in paperback, just last October.
Dr. Daly is a graduate of the College of Saint Rose in Albany, N.Y. and holds a master's degree in English from Catholic University of America and a doctorate in religion from St. Mary's College, Notre Dame. She earned a bachelor's degree, a licentiate and doctorate in sacred theology and a doctorate in philosophy, all from the University of Fribourg in Switzerland.
