Follow the adventures of the young orphan Anne Shirley when she arrives in the Prince Edward Island town of Avonlea dressed in a ridiculous looking hat and carrying a carpetbag with a handle that falls off. Determined to find a family she can call her own, she is met at the train station by Matthew Cuthbert, an elderly man who lives with his sister Marilla. Although they had requested a boy to help with the farm chores, Matthew is so charmed by Anne and her indomitable spunk, he persuades Marilla to let her stay for a trial period. The plot revolves around the antics of this imaginative and spirited orphan as she sets out to win the hearts of the Cuthberts and the people of Avonlea.
"Anne of Green Gables," features a rich musical score, beautiful period costumes and imaginative sets. Written and directed by Greg Funning, with music by Richard DeRosa and lyrics by Mr. Gunning, the play premiered in 1993 and has been performed in leading cultural centers throughout the United States.
