Quick Center presents Twelfth Annual Children's Summer Theater Camp

天美传媒视频无限制观看's Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts presents its 12th annual children's summer theater camp July 6 through August 25. The camp features four Missoula Children's Theatre (the nation's largest touring theater company for children) productions together with the Quick Center's complementary arts workshops. Over a period of six weeks, a cast of 60 local children will perform in: "The Fisherman and His Wife" (7/6, 7/7, 7/13 and 7/14); "Cinderella" (7/27 and 7/28); "Treasure Island" (8/3); and "Red Riding Hood" (8/17, 8/18, 8/24 and 8/25).

All productions are a culmination of a week-long musical theater summer day camp during which children audition, rehearse and learn creativity, social skills, goal achievement and communication skills. The Quick Center's artist workshop leaders are skilled professional artists who will teach the children theater games, set design, movement and dance, acting and improvisation, arts and crafts and design projects.

All Missoula Children's Theatre (MCT) shows are original adaptations of classic children's stories and fairy tales. The mission of MCT and the Quick Center is to enhance the development of life skills in children through participation in the performing arts.

The first play of the season, "The Fisherman and His Wife," takes place on Fridays, July 6 and 13, at 7 p.m., and Saturdays, July 7 and 14, at 11 a.m., in the Quick Center for the Arts. This production, written and conceived by MCT's Don Kukla, is an original adaptation of the famous Grimm's fairy tale. Will has never been a very good fisherman, catching only what jumped into his boot! His life suddenly changes when he catches an enchanted fish, who offers him the chance to make all his dreams come true. Will soon learns if you have happiness, you have everything you need.

Will is joined by a host of other characters in this magical musical including: young Will, the Hooks, the Anglers, the Mayor's Assistants, the Emperor's Subjects and the Starfish. The music and original staging are by Don Kukla; additional music and arrangements are by Michael McGill.

Subscriptions for all four plays are $28 for adults; $20 for children. Single tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for children and seniors. For tickets or a detailed brochure, call the box office at (203) 254-4010 or toll-free at 1-877-ARTS-396.
