Grayce M. Sills, R.N., Ph.D., FAAN, an international consultant for community-based mental health nursing, is joining 天美传媒视频无限制观看's School of Nursing as a visiting professor.
A past president of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association and editor of The Journal of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association, Dr. Sills chairs The Ohio State University Hospital's board and is president of the American Nurses Foundation. She is professor emeritus at The Ohio State University College of Nursing and serves on the Advisory Board of the American Psychiatric Nurses Foundation.
In 1999, Dr. Sills was named a "Living Legend" by the Governing Council of the American Academy of Nursing. She received a Hildegard Peplau Award from the American Nurses Association in 2000 for her contributions to psychiatric nursing.
At Fairfield Dr. Sills will be teaching two nursing courses this fall that include one intensive weekend of classes followed by a semester of "virtual classroom" computer work with the professor and other students and a final classroom meeting.
"Leadership & Management in Nursing" is designed to provide students with organizational, management and leadership theories and will focus on decision-making, collaboration, power and conflict. The three-credit course begins with a three-day seminar, Friday, Sept. 20, through Sunday, Sept. 22, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Students will then continue working over the Internet before a final class session in January at a date to be announced. The fee is $1,020.
"Development of Nursing Science" provides a foundation for understanding the nature of science, the state of the art of nursing science and approaches to the development of a science. Students will examine the connections between theory, research and practice, as well as critique nursing models and engage in concept analysis and synthesis. This three-credit course will take place Friday, Sept. 27, through Sunday, Sept. 29, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., followed by distance learning and a final session at Fairfield on Saturday, Dec. 14. The fee is $1,170.
