Quick Center for the Arts launches the 2006-2007 season of the Young Audience Sunday Series with the Enchantment Theatre Company's production of "Cinderella" on Sunday, Oct. 15. Two matinee performances are planned at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. The "Cinderella" experience continues on Monday, Oct. 16 at 10 a.m. with a presentation offered by the Company through the Quick Center's ArtsBound Schoolday Series, an Outreach Program.
"Cinderella" is an innovative pantomime, rich in the Enchantment's original choreography and seamlessly blending the Company's signature elements, puppetry, masked actors and magic. The production is set to bewitchingly original music and incorporates striking theatrical images with imaginative sets, life-sized puppets, shadow play, colorful costumes and dazzling special effects. Enchantment has performed this version of "Cinderella" to great acclaim with symphony orchestras from Philadelphia to Houston. At the heart of this romantic fairytale is a transformative story that teaches the importance of believing in oneself and daring to follow one's dreams. The Enchantment's poignant and often-hilarious production is designed to appeal to children of all grades and ages.
On Monday, Oct. 16 at 10 a.m., the Enchantment Theatre Company will offer interested children of all school grades an opportunity to experience a deeper appreciation of the production through an educational outreach program presented through the ArtsBound Schoolday Series. Co-sponsored by the Greater Bridgeport Area Foundation, the program enriches the theatrical experience by penetrating the illusions, masks and glitter with the goal of stimulating the children's theatrical imagination. Outreach Program Study Guides are available at the Quick Center website, www.quickcenter.com or at the Box Office.
