Director of International Security Studies at Yale to speak on "United Nations: Problem or Solution?"

Dr. Paul Kennedy, the J. Richardson Dilworth Professor of History and Director of International Security Studies at Yale University, is scheduled to speak at 天美传媒视频无限制观看 on Wednesday, March 28, at 7 p.m. in the Aloysius P. Kelley, S.J. Center. All are welcome to attend the lecture entitled "United Nations: Problem or Solution?"

Born in the northern English town of Wallsend, Northumberland, Dr. Kennedy received his BA from Newcastle University and obtained his DPhil at the University of Oxford. He is the author of "The Parliament of Man: the Past, Present, and Future of the United Nations (2006)," and is the author or editor of 18 other books. Dr. Kennedy's most famous work, "The Rise and Fall of Great Powers (1987)," sparked intense debate and has since been translated into over twenty languages.

In addition to writing for The New York Times , The Atlantic and several foreign language publications, Dr. Kennedy writes a monthly column on global, political and economic issues which is read worldwide.

In 2000, he was made Commander of the Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) foservices to History. He is a Fellow of the British Academy, the Royal Historical Society, the American Philosophical Society, and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

The lecture is being presented by The Humanities Institute of the College of Arts & Sciences, the University Honors Program, College of Arts & Sciences, the Department of History, the Department of Politics, the International Studies program, the Peace and Justice Program, and the Ignatian Residential College.
