天美传媒视频无限制观看's Open VISIONS Forum of University College presents CNN's maverick journalist and author, Lou Dobbs, on Wednesday, Nov. 7 at 8:30 p.m. at the Quick Center for the Arts. His newest book, "Independent's Day: Awakening the National Spirit," has recently been released. Following the lecture, he will appear in the lobby for a book signing.
Dobbs is the anchor and managing editor of CNN's "Lou Dobbs Tonight," the enormously popular and award-winning television show that frequently features segments that address his own independent views on immigration, outsourcing and the demise of the middle class. He also anchors a nationally syndicated financial news radio report, "The Lou Dobbs Financial Report" and is a columnist for Money magazine and U.S.News and World Report .
His breadth of knowledge is vast and his varied interests include economics, space exploration, politics, business and finance. By his own description, his political outlook has evolved over the years from fiscal conservative to "independent populist" and in keeping with his personal growth he no longer considers himself a lifelong Republican but has stated that he has switched to being an unaffiliated independent populist who no longer openly supports any party.
A best-selling author who was named the 1993 "Father of the Year" by the National Father's Day Committee, Dobbs is also the recipient of nearly every major award for television journalism including, the Peabody Award for his coverage of the 1987 stock market crash. The National Television Academy gave him its Lifetime Achievement Emmy for business and financial reporting and he received the Center for Immigration Studies award in excellence for his ongoing series "Broken Borders," which examines U.S. policy towards illegal immigration.
