Ambassador's lecture marks 60th anniversary of Israel

Ambassador Alon Pinkas, the Former Consul General of Israel in New York from 2000-2004, will speak at 天美传媒视频无限制观看 on "The Future of Israel: Economic, Cultural, Religious, & Political Dimensions," on Tuesday, April 1 at 8 p.m. in the Oak Room of the John A. Barone Campus Center. The lecture marks the 60th anniversary of Israel and is sponsored by the Carl and Dorothy Bennett Center for Judaic Studies at Fairfield.

A native of Tel Aviv, Israel, Ambassador Pinkas says his career mission during nearly two decades in foreign affairs has been "to know, analyze and digest Israel to Americans; and to know, analyze and digest the United States for Israelis." While Consul General of Israel, he served as the liaison between the state of Israel and the United States national media, national Jewish organizations, public officials and varied business interests. He is an expert on border issues that currently afflict Israel and the Middle East.

A former Chief of Staff/Minister of Foreign Affairs to both Shlomo Ben-Ami and David Levy, Ambassador Pinkas was a key policy advisor to former Minister of Foreign Affairs Shimon Peres and later to Prime Minister Ehud Barak.

A graduate of Hebrew University with a bachelor's degree in political science, he also holds a master's degree in government from Georgetown University.
