"Legal and Ethical Challenges in Counseling"

A full-day workshop entitled, "Legal and Ethical Challenges in Counseling" featuring Dr. Theodore P. Remley, Jr. as presenter, will be held at 天美传媒视频无限制观看 in the Dolan School of Business on Saturday, April 5 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. The workshop, which offers .6 CEUs or 6 NBCC contact hours, is $35 for students and $90 for professionals. Counselors and mental health clinicians face legal and ethical challenges in their practices on a daily basis. And this important topic is one in which counselor educators require proficiency for their teaching. Dr. Remley, who is both a lawyer and licensed counselor, will provide counselors with a process for resolving both legal and ethical issues in ways that have proven to be effective. He will also reference Connecticut law. Specific topics that will be addressed in the workshop include:

Dr. Remley holds the Batten Endowed Chair in Counseling at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia where he is the Program Director of the master's and doctoral Counseling Graduate Programs. He holds a Ph.D. in Counselor Education from the University of Florida and a law degree (J.D.) from Catholic University in Washington, D.C.

Dr. Remley is a former Executive Director of the American Counseling Association. He is the first author on the popular counselor education text, Ethical, Legal and Professional Issues in Counseling. In Spring 2008 he was elected as a Fellow of the American Counseling Association.
