"A thorough delight - inspired, funny and intimate." - The New York Times
"A Christmas Carol," one of the season's most treasured tales, comes to 天美传媒视频无限制观看's Quick Center for the Arts with a Theatreworks/USA young-audience-hour-long musical that will delight all ages on Sunday, Dec. 21 at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
Based on Charles Dickens' holiday classic, Theatreworks/USA brings these famous characters - Scrooge, Bob Cratchit, Tiny Tim and of course, the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and To Come, along with Scrooge's foreboding and long-deceased partner, Jacob Marley - to vivid life in a musical adaptation that sports songs with heartwarming lyrics and music but, that also contains a bit of spice "to keep it from ever becoming treacle," as The New York Times noted.
Catching the holiday spirit with the classic story of a man whose cold heart is warmed after a Christmas Eve encounter with the supernatural is an engaging way to celebrate the Yuletide.
Ebenezer Scrooge greets every Christmas with his usual attitude of "bah, humbug!" To him the holiday is simply a waste of a workday and he resents having to pay his loyal employee, Bob Cratchit, for having the day off. As for the poor in the streets, Scrooge feels they should all disappear and "decrease the surplus population!"
Scrooge finds his Christmas Eve sleep interrupted by an otherworldly Specter and visits from a series of prophetic spirits. These spirits show him the brutally honest reality of his life and present him with the unpleasant image of what to expect should he decide to continue in his present way.
Generations of children have absorbed and learned enduring lessons of compassion, the joy of giving and the dark side of ignoring goodness from these rich and memorable characters. With the addition of music to this classic, the story continues with an unforgettable dimension.
