The first in a series of four Director's Choice lectures on Modern and Contemporary art topics begins with a lecture on the current exhibition,
A New Reality: Black-and-White
Photography in Contemporary Art, Friday, October 10 from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at the Thomas J. Walsh Art Gallery.
The exhibition, described by The
New York Times
as containing "stirring images," opened in September and runs through December 7. The works are from the collection of Anne and Arthur Goldstein of Upper Saddle River, N.J. and include photographs by Diane Arbus, Richard Avedon, Kenneth Josephson, Nan Goldin and Vik Muniz. Curator Jeffrey Wechsler will walk through the exhibition and informally discuss the uniqueness, process and subjects of selected works.
