"The Continuing Significance of Humanae vitae," will be the topic of a panel discussion at 天美传媒视频无限制观看, presented by the Center for Catholic Studies, on Wednesday, September 17 at 4 p.m., in the Charles F. Dolan School of Business Dining Room on the Fairfield campus.
Panelists include author, teacher and pyschologist Sidney Callahan, Ph. D., and ethicist and moral theologian Pia de Solenni, Ph. D., an expert on issues relating to women's health, life issues, the new feminism, and culture.

Dr. Callahan held the Paul J. McKeever Chair of Moral Theology at St. John's University in Queens, N.Y. from 2002 to 2003, and she was professor of psychology at Mercy College from 1980 to 1997. A contributor to Commonweal magazine, she has written extensively about ethical, religious, and psychological issues. She is author of "Created for Joy: A Christian View of Suffering," (The Crossroad Publishing Company, 2007); "In Good Conscience: Reason and Emotion in Moral Decision Making," (San Francisco: Harper San Francisco, 1991); "With All Our Heart and Mind: The Spiritual Works of Mercy in a Psychological Age," (New York: Crossroads/Continuum, 1988), winner of a Christopher Award; "Abortion: Understanding Differences," co-edited with Daniel Callahan (New York: Plenum Press, 1984); and "Parenting: Principles and Politics of Parenthood," (New York: Doubleday, 1973). She earned a B.A. in English from Bryn Mawr College, a master's degree in psychology from Sarah Lawrence College, and a Ph.D. in Social and Personality Psychology from the City University of New York.
Dr. de Solenni owns her own consulting company, Diotima Consulting. Her work has appeared in various publications including The Wall Street Journal Europe, The Washington Post, National Catholic Reporter, Our Sunday Visitor, and National Review Online. She has participated in many radio and television talk shows on various topics. She has appeared on MSNBC, "Hardball with Chris Matthews," "The O'Reilly Factor," CNN, ABC News, among other programs. Dr. de Solenni has been quoted in newspapers nationwide, including The New York Times, The Washington Times , and The Associated Press . She serves on several advisory boards including the Review Board for the Protection of Children and Young People of the Archdiocese for Military Services, USA.
